Biography
Aristotle (384–322 BCE) was a Greek philosopher and scientist, a student of Plato, and the teacher of Alexander the Great. Born in northern Greece, Aristotle joined Plato's Academy in Athens at the age of 17 and remained there for 20 years. After Plato's death, Aristotle left Athens and eventually became the tutor to Alexander the Great in Macedonia.
Aristotle founded his own school, the Lyceum, in Athens, where he spent most of his life teaching and writing. His works cover a wide range of subjects, including metaphysics, ethics, politics, logic, biology, and physics.
Aristotle's influence extended well into the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, profoundly shaping Western intellectual history. His works laid the foundation for various scientific disciplines and philosophical thought, making him one of the most important figures in Western philosophy.

The Original Masterpiece
This sculpture is believed to date to the second century AD, making it at least 1800 years old. The statue was created during the peak of the Roman Empire. Made from stunning textured marble, the statue is actually a replica of an earlier Greek statue which was made from Bronze. The original bust's creation is attributed to Lysippos, one of the three great sculptors of Greece's Classical Period. This statue's creation is symbolic of ancient Rome's respect and appreciation for Greek thinkers and philosophers. Today the statue is housed in the Palazzo Altemps branch of the Museo Nazionale Romano in Rome, where it is on display for the public to observe.
